A 25-year-old Tucson man has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for the sex-abuse of a child near Parker, federal prosecutors said.

Cylus Miller Alvarado had pleaded guilty in federal court to abusive sexual contact of a child, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Arizona said in a news release.

On Jan. 15, Alvarado was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Sharad H. Desai to 16 years in prison, the release said.

"Between April 1, 2022, and June 12, 2023, Alvarado engaged in abusive sexual contact with a minor victim who was under the age of 12 on multiple occasions at the residence where he was living in Parker, Arizona, on the Colorado River Indian Tribes Indian Reservation," the release said. Alvarado and the minor are members of the Colorado River Indian Tribes.
