An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the December killing of two people at a Tucson park, police said.

Jose Mendez-Torres was jailed on suspicion of two counts of first-degree murder, armed robbery, aggravated robbery, trafficking in stolen property and discharging a firearm within city limits, Tucson police said in a news release. His bond was set at $2 million.

Mendez-Torres is suspected in the Dec. 27 fatal shooting of Joshua Mariscal Jr., 20, and a 17-year-old boy police did not publicly identify.

The pair was shot about 8:15 p.m. at a community park in the 3600 block of South Naco Vista, in the Western Hills neighborhood near South Kino Parkway and East Ajo Way.

The pair was shot while meeting with "unknown individuals," police have said.
