- Round Room LLC: The Verizon-authorized wireless retailer and its TCC store at 1580 E. Tucson Marketplace Blvd., donated school supplies to Mary Belle McCorkle Academy of Excellence. As part of the fifth annual Teachers Rock Supply Giveaway campaign, 10 teachers received supply pack donations filled with pencils, pens, dry erase markers, erasers, glue, paper, tissue boxes, sticky notes and other items. Each pack is valued at $77. Round Room conducts the Teachers Rock campaign in more than 500 cities across the country as part of the company’s Culture of Good movement.
- Wendy’s: Thirteen Tucson-area Wendy’s restaurants are raising money for Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen). Proceeds from the sale of $1 coupon books, good for five free Frostys, will support TGen’s efforts to turn new laboratory discoveries into better therapeutics benefiting cancer patients. The fundraiser, which runs through April 15, is a combined effort of Wendy’s franchise groups in 10 states. In the last two years, participating Wendy’s locations have donated nearly $200,000 to TGen through the Bernice E. Holland Foundation aiding them in raising $1.1 million towards cancer research.
