Sprouts Farmers Market

Sprouts Farmers Market operates more than 35 stores in Arizona, including this one in Oro Valley.

Phoenix-based Sprouts Farmers Market plans to open its first store in Green Valley in the first quarter of 2018 as part of a 30-store expansion planned by the fast-growing grocer next year.

The Green Valley store, at 18755 S. Nogales Highway, is among nine set to open in the first quarter and will join five others in the Tucson area.

The others include locations in Mesa and Tempe in Arizona, along with sites in Albuquerque and Las Cruces, New Mexico; Maryland, North Carolina, California and Florida.

Each store will create about 120 new jobs, Sprouts said. Grand opening dates and hiring information will be released later, the company said.

The new store in the Baltimore suburb of Ellicott City, Maryland, will be the company’s first opening in the mid-Atlantic region, the company said.

Sprouts now has a total of 279 stores in 15 states, according to regulatory filings.
