Nicholson promoted to president, COO of Tucson-based Brakemax
Michael P. Nicholson was named president and chief operating officer of Brakemax Car Care Centers and Max Auto Glass, a Tucson-based retail auto service chain. He replaces Raymond L. Pisciotta, who will continue to serve as chairman and chief executive officer.
Nicholson was previously the general manager of the company, which consists of 14 locations across Pima County as well as an auto glass division.
He joined Pisciotta to form Brakemax Car Care Centers in 1997 as location manager on First Avenue before becoming general manager in 1999.

Eklund returns to Tucson as Pharos medical director
Dr. Diane Eklund joined Pharos Diagnostics as medical director.
Eklund completed her residency in pathology, then earned her clinical pathology certification from University of Arizona in 1996. She was division chief, transfusion medicine, at the University of Arizona Health Science Center until 2001. Before joining Pharos Diagnostics and returning to Tucson, Eklund held medical director positions at several large blood banks. Most recently she was chief medical officer at the San Diego Blood Bank.
Pharos Diagnostics recently announced the opening of its high-complexity laboratory, which operates under the guidelines of the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments, in central Tucson.
The laboratory leverages mass spectrometry technology to provide diagnostic services to clinicians, researchers and drug development companies.

Vantage West Credit Union announced the addition of Guillermo Caldelas as its new director of mortgage sales.
Caldelas brings with him more than 15 years of leadership experience as a mortgage professional, including his most recent stint with Wells Fargo as branch sales manager for Southeastern Arizona. At Vantage West, he is now in charge of exploring new markets and leading his team to providing responsive mortgage solutions to credit union members.

Victoria Otto joined Gust Rosenfeld PLC as an associate in the firmβs litigation group and Tucson office. Her litigation practice focuses on health care and general civil litigation.
Before joining the firm, Victoria practiced law as a prosecutor for the Pima County Attorneyβs Office for over 11 years. She prosecuted defendants in more than 60 felony and misdemeanor jury trials, evidentiary hearings, bench trials and other court proceedings. Victoria became a supervisor in 2010, and supervised the misdemeanor unit, the special victims unit, and the violent crimes unit.

Fundraiser Fields joins Eller CollegeΒ
Elizabeth Fields has been appointed to lead the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizonaβs development and alumni relations functions.
Fields comes to the Eller College from NPR West in Los Angeles, where she was senior director of development and led the major and principal gifts program. She has extensive experience in fundraising for higher education, including time with leading universities including the University of Chicago and the University of Pennsylvania.

Attorney promoted in prosecutor's officeΒ
A deputy county attorney has been promoted to unit supervisor.
Michelle Chamblee was promoted to the position of supervisor for the Pima County Attorneyβs domestic violence unit. Chambleeβs career began in the County Attorneyβs Office in 1997 as a paralegal. She was admitted to the State Bar of Arizona in 2005 and became a deputy county attorney. She has been working in the special victims unit and was involved in the prosecution of felony criminal offenses committed within Pima County, from the initial charging stage up until the case is ultimately resolved.

Dawson is YMCA's new president/CEOΒ
The YMCA of Southern Arizona has named Kurtis Dawson its president/CEO effective Jan. 1.
This decision comes after current President/CEO Dane Woll announced his retirement this past summer.
Dawson joins the YMCA of Southern Arizona team after 15 years at the YMCA of Grays Harbor in Hoquiam, Wash. As the CEO/executive director there since 2008, Dawson helped that YMCA association grow and prosper, surpassing budgetary and fundraising goals.

Niemeyer comes to the local United Way with nearly 20 years of experience at United Way organizations in Texas and Virginia. Most recently, Niemeyer was chief development Officer at United Way of Greater Richmond and Petersburg.
He will design, direct and carry out fundraising strategy for United Wayβs workplace campaigns and leadership giving, as well as develop new sources of funding.

Gerrie Gray, a longtime employee of Miramonte Homes, has been promoted to the position of vice president of land acquisition and development.

The Tucson native succeeds former CFO, Celia Hightower, who recently retired after over 28 years of service.
Rico graduated from the University of Arizona with degrees in Finance, Accounting and Economics. He has over 20 years of finance and accounting experience with various Tucson organizations, spending his last 16 years with Ventana Medical Systems, a global leader in tissue based cancer diagnostics. Dr. Samir Dahdal has joined Tucson Medical Center as a physician advisor for utilization management.
Dahdal, who is board certified in cardiovascular disease and nuclear cardiology, is part of a physician team that works to oversee the appropriate use of hospital resources, TMC said in a news release.

He will be a professor in the Gastroenterology and Nutrition Division and will treat children at Diamondβs as a pediatric gastroenterologist.
Justinich brings special expertise in food allergic disorders of the GI tract, and in eosinophilic esophagitis, an inflammatory disease of the esophagus.
He received his medical degree from Queenβs University in Kingston, Ontario; completed a residency in pediatrics at the University of Ottawa Childrenβs Hospital of Eastern Ontario and both a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology and a research fellowship at the University of Montreal Sainte-Justine Hospital.

Dr. Adolben Y. Montesclaros graduated from medical school at Cebu Institute of Medicine in the Philippines. He had post-graduate training in general practice and general surgery training, both in New Jersey. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Estela Rutiaga received her medical degree from the University of Illinois, Chicago, and completed her residency in family practice at MacNeal Hospital. She is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. Rutiaga is bi-lingual and will concentrate in primary care.

James returns to Long Realty's Foothills officeΒ
Realtor Matt James has rejoined Long Realtyβs Foothills Office, where he worked from 2006 until 2015.
Before that, he had careers in the restaurant industry and in real estate in Southern California. In 2006 he sold more than $14 million in real estate, including a house in the South County area of San Diego for a record $4.2 million, Long said in a news release.

The Tucson Jewish Community Center announced a promotion in early childhood education: Joline Riddle, to director. Riddle has been with the center since May 2015, after most recently serving as an instructor and supervisor at the University of Arizona College of Education. She holds a masterβs in educational administration from UA and is certified in educational administration.

TJCC educator earns promotion
The Tucson Jewish Community Center announced a promotion in early childhood education: Marian Schiltz, to head of operations. Schiltz, in addition to her role in early childhood education, also moves up to director of Discover C.A.T.C.H (Coordinated Approach to Child Health), from associate director. She has been with the center for more than five years after working for nonprofits.

Richard Pyle and Ted Kiracofe joined Wellspring Financial Partners to expand its corporate retirement and wealth management divisions.
Pyle joined Wellspring a year ago, providing financial planning and wealth management for individual clients, after more than 12 years in international business management and 10 years in information services and technology management. He holds a bachelorβs from State University of New York, Albany.
Kiracofe joins Wellspring as corporate business manager, bringing more than a decade of experience in benefits and insurance for local companies. His bachelorβs degree is from Arizona State University.

Encanto Pet Clinic welcomes Nausley
Dr. Kurt Nausley has joined Encanto Pet Clinic, after previously serving as a routine- and emergency-care veterinarian at another local practice.
He received his doctor of veterinary medicine degree in 1984 from the University of Missouri and has long practiced in Tucson. His veterinary medical interests include diagnostics, soft tissue surgery in small animals and emergency medicine.

Nicholson promoted to president, COO of Tucson-based Brakemax
Michael P. Nicholson was named president and chief operating officer of Brakemax Car Care Centers and Max Auto Glass, a Tucson-based retail auto service chain. He replaces Raymond L. Pisciotta, who will continue to serve as chairman and chief executive officer.
Nicholson was previously the general manager of the company, which consists of 14 locations across Pima County as well as an auto glass division.
He joined Pisciotta to form Brakemax Car Care Centers in 1997 as location manager on First Avenue before becoming general manager in 1999.

Eklund returns to Tucson as Pharos medical director
Dr. Diane Eklund joined Pharos Diagnostics as medical director.
Eklund completed her residency in pathology, then earned her clinical pathology certification from University of Arizona in 1996. She was division chief, transfusion medicine, at the University of Arizona Health Science Center until 2001. Before joining Pharos Diagnostics and returning to Tucson, Eklund held medical director positions at several large blood banks. Most recently she was chief medical officer at the San Diego Blood Bank.
Pharos Diagnostics recently announced the opening of its high-complexity laboratory, which operates under the guidelines of the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments, in central Tucson.
The laboratory leverages mass spectrometry technology to provide diagnostic services to clinicians, researchers and drug development companies.

Caldelas brings with him more than 15 years of leadership experience as a mortgage professional, including his most recent stint with Wells Fargo as branch sales manager for Southeastern Arizona. Becky Taylor, a certified residential broker with more than 40 yearsβ experience as a Realtor, has been named managing broker for Keller Williams Southern Arizonaβs Kolb La Playa Market Center.
The Tucson native is a chair of the Professional Standards Committee of the Arizona Association of Realtors and serves as a certified instructor for the Arizona Department of Real Estate continuing education program.

Gust Rosenfeld gains Otto as associateΒ
Victoria Otto joined Gust Rosenfeld PLC as an associate in the firmβs litigation group and Tucson office. Her litigation practice focuses on health care and general civil litigation.
Before joining the firm, Victoria practiced law as a prosecutor for the Pima County Attorneyβs Office for over 11 years. She prosecuted defendants in more than 60 felony and misdemeanor jury trials, evidentiary hearings, bench trials and other court proceedings. Victoria became a supervisor in 2010, and supervised the misdemeanor unit, the special victims unit, and the violent crimes unit.

Fundraiser Fields joins Eller CollegeΒ
Elizabeth Fields has been appointed to lead the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizonaβs development and alumni relations functions.
Fields comes to the Eller College from NPR West in Los Angeles, where she was senior director of development and led the major and principal gifts program. She has extensive experience in fundraising for higher education, including time with leading universities including the University of Chicago and the University of Pennsylvania.

Attorney promoted in prosecutor's officeΒ
A deputy county attorney has been promoted to unit supervisor.
Michelle Chamblee was promoted to the position of supervisor for the Pima County Attorneyβs domestic violence unit. Chambleeβs career began in the County Attorneyβs Office in 1997 as a paralegal. She was admitted to the State Bar of Arizona in 2005 and became a deputy county attorney. She has been working in the special victims unit and was involved in the prosecution of felony criminal offenses committed within Pima County, from the initial charging stage up until the case is ultimately resolved.

Dr. James Nicolai was named medical director for Casa de la Luz Hospice on November 28.
A board-certified family practitioner who holds the Hospice Medical Director Certified credential, Dr. Nicolaiβs expertise lies in combining conventional medicine with the intelligent use of holistic therapies.
Dr. Nicolai is a graduate of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine fellowship program under the direction of Dr. Andrew Weil. He served as Medical Director of the Integrative Wellness Program at Miraval Resort and Spa.

Dawson is YMCA's new president/CEOΒ
The YMCA of Southern Arizona has named Kurtis Dawson its president/CEO effective Jan. 1.
This decision comes after current President/CEO Dane Woll announced his retirement this past summer.
Dawson joins the YMCA of Southern Arizona team after 15 years at the YMCA of Grays Harbor in Hoquiam, Wash. As the CEO/executive director there since 2008, Dawson helped that YMCA association grow and prosper, surpassing budgetary and fundraising goals.

United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona has named Heath Niemeyer associate vice president of development.
Niemeyer comes to the local United Way with nearly 20 years of experience at United Way organizations in Texas and Virginia. Most recently, Niemeyer was chief development Officer at United Way of Greater Richmond and Petersburg.
He will design, direct and carry out fundraising strategy for United Wayβs workplace campaigns and leadership giving, as well as develop new sources of funding.

Gerrie Gray, a longtime employee of Miramonte Homes, has been promoted to the position of vice president of land acquisition and development.
Gray has been with Miramonte Homes since 2004 and previously held the post of director of land acquisition and development.

El Rio Community Health Center announced the addition of Carlos Rico as its chief financial officer.
The Tucson native succeeds former CFO, Celia Hightower, who recently retired after over 28 years of service.
Rico graduated from the University of Arizona with degrees in Finance, Accounting and Economics. He has over 20 years of finance and accounting experience with various Tucson organizations, spending his last 16 years with Ventana Medical Systems, a global leader in tissue based cancer diagnostics. Most recently he served as their Vice President of Finance.

Dahdal advising TMC on use of resourcesΒ
Dr. Samir Dahdal has joined Tucson Medical Center as a physician advisor for utilization management.
Dahdal, who is board certified in cardiovascular disease and nuclear cardiology, is part of a physician team that works to oversee the appropriate use of hospital resources, TMC said in a news release.
The team also helps to ensure the hospital remains current with applicable regulatory compliance and management standards affecting programs and reimbursement.
Dahdal, who formerly led the outreach and cardio oncology clinical program at Banner-University Medical Center, joined Tucson Heart Group in October 2016.

Dr. Christopher Justinich has joined the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Arizona College of Medicine β Tucson and Banner Childrenβs at Diamond Childrenβs Medical Center.
He will be a professor in the Gastroenterology and Nutrition Division and will treat children at Diamondβs as a pediatric gastroenterologist.
Justinich brings special expertise in food allergic disorders of the GI tract, and in eosinophilic esophagitis, an inflammatory disease of the esophagus.
He received his medical degree from Queenβs University in Kingston, Ontario; completed a residency in pediatrics at the University of Ottawa Childrenβs Hospital of Eastern Ontario and both a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology and a research fellowship at the University of Montreal Sainte-Justine Hospital.
Justinich is board certified in pediatric gastroenterology.

Dr. Adolben Y. Montesclaros graduated from medical school at Cebu Institute of Medicine in the Philippines. He had post-graduate training in general practice and general surgery training, both in New Jersey. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Montesclaros will specialize in general surgery at the Urgent Care Center.Β

Dr. Estela Rutiaga received her medical degree from the University of Illinois, Chicago, and completed her residency in family practice at MacNeal Hospital. She is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. Rutiaga is bi-lingual and will concentrate in primary care.

James returns to Long Realty's Foothills officeΒ
Realtor Matt James has rejoined Long Realtyβs Foothills Office, where he worked from 2006 until 2015.
Before that, he had careers in the restaurant industry and in real estate in Southern California. In 2006 he sold more than $14 million in real estate, including a house in the South County area of San Diego for a record $4.2 million, Long said in a news release.
A native Tucsonan, James is on the 2012-2015 Fiesta Bowl committees, volunteers as a Little League coach and supports Tucson Boys and Girls Clubs. He has a degree from Northern Arizona University.

Lynn Davis has been named executive director of the Sonoran Glass School.
Most recently, she was director of arts and culture at the Tucson Jewish Community Center.
Davis previously worked as director of the DNA Shoah Project at the University of Arizona; director of community relations and volunteer resources for Child & Family Resources; and director of both El Presidio and Eric Firestone galleries.

Anderson moves up to Cadden vice presidencyΒ
Brett Cadden Anderson has been named vice president at Cadden Community Management.
A Tucson native, Anderson holds a bachelorβs degree in environmental microbiology with a minor in business administration from the University of Arizona.
She joined Cadden in 2012 as a portfolio manager, and now oversees a team of community managers and the in-house training program. She is a certified manager of community associations through Community Associations Institute.

UA Health Sciences adds a physicianΒ
University of Arizona Health Sciences and Banner-University Medical Center Tucson has announced the addition of a physician: Drs. Vasudha Goel.
Goel joined the Anesthesiology Department as a member of the chronic pain management team and an assistant professor. She will see patients as a Banner Health physician. Goel has a special interest in management of cancer-related pain.

University of Arizona Health Sciences and Banner-University Medical Center Tucson has announced the addition of a physician: Drew Kurtzman.
Kurtzman joined the Dermatology Division at the Department of Medicine as an assistant professor and will practice medicine at Banner β University Medical Center Tucson and UA Cancer Center β North and Orange Grove Campus outpatient clinics. Kurtzman, a UA and UA College of Medicine alum, was recruited from Brigham and Womenβs Hospital/Harvard Medical School.

The Tucson Jewish Community Center announced a promotion in early childhood education: Joline Riddle, to director. Riddle has been with the center since May 2015, after most recently serving as an instructor and supervisor at the University of Arizona College of Education. She holds a masterβs in educational administration from UA and is certified in educational administration.

The Tucson Jewish Community Center announced a promotion in early childhood education: Marian Schiltz, to head of operations. Schiltz, in addition to her role in early childhood education, also moves up to director of Discover C.A.T.C.H (Coordinated Approach to Child Health), from associate director. She has been with the center for more than five years after working for nonprofits.

Pyle, Kiracofe to beef up 2 Wellspring divisionsΒ
Richard Pyle and Ted Kiracofe joined Wellspring Financial Partners to expand its corporate retirement and wealth management divisions.
Pyle joined Wellspring a year ago, providing financial planning and wealth management for individual clients, after more than 12 years in international business management and 10 years in information services and technology management. He holds a bachelorβs from State University of New York, Albany.
Kiracofe joins Wellspring as corporate business manager, bringing more than a decade of experience in benefits and insurance for local companies. His bachelorβs degree is from Arizona State University.

Dove Centre Road β has hired a medical professional: Dr. Daniela Donoso completed her internal medicine residency at Drexel University in New Jersey and continued on as chief resident in 2014. She is bilingual and specializes in complex and chronic illnesses.Β

Dove Centre Road β has hired a medical professional: Tim Fitzgerald, DO, completed his doctorate of osteopathic medicine from the University of New England and is board-certified in urgent-care medicine and family practice. He previously worked at Clear Choice Urgent Care in Vermont. He will lead the urgent-care unit at Dove Mountain.Β

Young is a University of Arizona graduate who received her masterβs of science in nursing at Grand Canyon University. She has received certifications through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Atencio received his bachelorβs of science in nursing from Grand Canyon University and his masterβs of science in nursing from the University of Phoenix.Β He is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.Β

Encanto Pet Clinic welcomes Nausley
Dr. Kurt Nausley has joined Encanto Pet Clinic, after previously serving as a routine- and emergency-care veterinarian at another local practice.
He received his doctor of veterinary medicine degree in 1984 from the University of Missouri and has long practiced in Tucson. His veterinary medical interests include diagnostics, soft tissue surgery in small animals and emergency medicine.
