The Tucson Citizen ran a spread of photos of the M.P. Craven home in 1961. The home was built of burnt adobe and situated in the desert.

Exposed beams and burnt adobe walls highlight the decor in the living room and dining area of the M.P. Craven home. The fireplace wall is of natural red adobe while the narrow width of wall behind the birdcage is painted green around the bricks. Draperies in these two rooms are chartreuse.

White draperies and bedspread complement the muted pink and beige color scheme in Janie's bedroom. The furniture is antique white Provincial with gold trim. Off-white grass cloth woven with a pale pink thread is used on the bottom half of the walls, while white cedar paneling rubbed with pink-beige paint was chosen for the top. At left is a sliding door opening to Janie's own bath with all-pink fixtures.

The den is highlighted with four different wall treatments and colors. Rattan furniture adds to the relaxed feeling of the room. The coffee table is made from a large knot of a monkey pod tree and was purchased in Hawaii.

A serving counter divides the kitchen area from the dining room. Mrs. Craven has chosen yellow and brown as the main colors for her kitchen. Yellow was rubbed into the white cedar paneled walls, while the built-in oven, broiler and the cabinets are brown. Beige tile with a darker brown tile design is used for the wall behind the gas range.

Sixteen-year-old Janie Craven feeds sugar lumps to her mare, Het, and Peppy, the colt. The cravens also have a stallion named Bombar, which Mr. Craven rides. Janie has been riding since she first learned to walk and talk.

A giant eucalyptus tree shades the swimming pool on the north side of the M. P. Craven home on Panorama Road. These days, the desert surrounding the house is bright with colorful flowers and grass, thanks to the rains.
