The Tucson Citizen photographed the home of Robert E. Heineman and family in 1964. The home was once out on the edge of town, but by 1964, Tucson had grown out to it.

Brick walks wind through the patio which is aglow with flowers of all kinds, both in flower beds and in pots. A boxwood hedge surrounds the lawn area.

Iris, columbine, roses and many other flowers bloom in the brick-bordered beds in the patio. A rectangular swimming pool borders the south end of the patio and a barbecue area is built at the west end of the pool. Citrus backs up to the patio wall to the south.

The Robert E. Heinemans each have their own name for this little room which overlooks the patio. She calls it the "plant room," and he likes to refer to it as the "breakfast room." Mr. Heineman thinks the five part bay window makes it look like the pilot house of a Mississippi river boat.

The window in Mrs. Heineman's workroom points up one of her hobbies which is working in glass and metal. This room looks out over the front yard of the home.

Four generations have slept in this junior-size bed which belonged to Mr. Heineman's father. Drawers in the chest are filled with materials which Mrs. Heineman uses in making the ornamental eggs shown on tree in foreground.

Since 1947 Mr. Heineman has had ham radio operation as a hobby and his den is decorated with Q.S.L. code cards. The muzzle-loading shotgun on the wall belonged to his grandfather. Den is paneled in knotty pine.

One wall of the dining room is papered in this oriental type mural on a dull gold background. Chairs are in an ebony finish with gold trim and dining table and semi-circular buffet are in blond mahogany. Louvered doors are used between living room and dining room.
