Why: For running her nonprofit organization Blessings from the Heart. The organization works to help orphanages, shelters and migrant holding facilities in Agua Prieta, Sonora. It’s through Willan’s hard work and dedication that the lives of the people at these facilities are made a little brighter, Kuhns wrote in her nomination letter. Willan also sells coffee, Café Justo, at local farmers markets that is grown in a cooperative in Chiapas, Mexico. The proceeds from the sustainably grown coffee are important to help the growers offset poverty and remain on their lands, Kuhns wrote.
