The death of a 70-year-old inmate Sunday at the Pima County jail is being investigated, authorities say.
About 5:30 p.m. corrections officers noticed Luanne Halbrook "experiencing a medical issue" during a routine safety check, the Pima County Sheriff's Department said Tuesday in a news release.
Halbrook was moved from the jail medical unit to a local hospital.
Halbrook died at the hospital just after 11:00 p.m., the release said. The Pima County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy.
