Homicide charges have been filed in the fatal shooting of a 39-year-old Tucson woman whose body was found in a wash on the city’s south side in late January.
Lorenzo Cordova, 29, was taken into custody during a traffic stop Thursday after a Feb. 6 warrant was issued for his arrest in the death of Andrea Marie Padilla.
Cordova appeared in court Friday on a charge of second-degree murder. He is being held at the Pima County jail on $1 million bond.
Prosecutors allege Cordova shot and killed Padilla following a physical confrontation. Her body was found Jan. 27 after 911 dispatchers received a call about dead body found in the wash near East 21st Street and South Euclid Avenue, police said.
