Tucson Fire Department and Northwest Fire District crews rescued an injured hiker from the Bowman Trail, located behind the JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass Resort & Spa, Saturday morning.

An injured hiker who was rescued on Bowman Trail by Tucson and Northwest fire crews has been taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries, authorities said.

Tucson Fire Department initially responded to a 911 call from the hiker's companion, and was able to locate and begin treating the patient before it was determined that the trail, which is located behind the JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass Resort & Spa, is actually in Northwest Fire's jurisdiction, said department spokesman, Capt. Brian Keeley.

Northwest Fire crews, along with a technical rescue team, arrived on the scene and both agencies assisted in helping the patient down the trail, Keeley said.

The type of injury wasn't specified, but Keeley said that it prohibited the hiker from making it back without assistance.
