A 59-year-old man, who was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver Thursday night, was identified as Randy W. Kerzog, police said.

Kerzog, 59, died at Banner-University Medical Center Tucson, said Sgt. Pete Dugan, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.

Just before 11 p.m. officers were sent to the 1100 block of West Prince Road, east of North Flowing Wells Road, for a man down in the road.

Officers found a man who appeared to have been hit by a vehicle, and paramedics tended to the man and took him to the hospital.Β

Traffic detectives determined the man was likely crossing Prince southbound either in or near a crosswalk when he was hit.

Detectives found evidence that leads them to believe the vehicle involved is a pearl black 2012 to 2015 Hyundai Elantra, Dugan said.

The car will most likely have front end damage to the passenger side, which includes a damaged headlight and a side view mirror, said Dugan.Β
