A woman was killed Monday night when a driver collided with a car then struck her as she stood at an intersection on Tucson's southwest side, police say.
About 6:15 p.m. the unidentified woman was standing at the southwest corner of West Ajo Way and South Mission Road when two vehicles collided in the intersection. One of the cars then struck her, Tucson police said Wednesday in a news release.
In the crash, an unidentified 55-year-old woman a green Jeep Renegade was turning left at the intersection from northbound Mission onto westbound Ajo when police say she was struck by a southbound black Dodge Charger.
The Charger, driven by an unidentified 30-year-old man, then continued through the intersection and struck the pedestrian, throwing her in cacti near a bus stop, the release said.
She was declared dead at the crash scene.
Police say the driver of the Charger was speeding at the time of the crash.
The investigation continues.
