Two people are dead and a third is hospitalized after a shootout Sunday night at a car show at Reid Park, Tucson police say.

Ruth Simpson, 35, and Carlos Hernandez, 37, were shot shortly before 8 p.m. during a confrontation between two groups at the park, near South Country Club Road and East 22nd Street, police said Tuesday in a news release.

Simpson died at the hospital soon after the shooting. Hernandez died Monday at a hospital, the release said.

A third person, an unidentified 34-year-old man who was wounded in the shootout, remains hospitalized, the release said.

The shooting still is being investigated, but there are no outstanding suspects, the release said.
