A 53-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft in connection with copper wire stolen from Tucson street lights, police said.
The investigation was launched in September following a string of copper wire thefts from neighborhood street lights that started in August, Tucson police said in a news release.
In the thefts, copper wiring was removed and sold to scrap yards, More than a half-ton of copper wire is estimated to have been taken in the theft spree, the release said.
Robert Joseph Carrillo was arrested earlier this month after a search of a home in which police say they found evidence linking him to the thefts.
Carrillo was booked into the Pima County jail on suspicion of 12 counts each of third-degree burglary, criminal damage and trafficking in stolen property. Bond was set at $10,000, the release said.
