When Braxton Burmeister flipped from Arizona to Oregon late in the 2017 recruiting process, the Wildcats lost a key component of its incoming recruiting class.

Without Burmeister coming in at quarterback, the Wildcats would be left with just returners Brandon DawkinsKhalil Tate and incoming freshman Rhett Rodriguez at the position just one season after the Wildcats, at times, were down to the third- and fourth-string quarterbacks.

Sunday, Arizona took the first steps to rectifying that situation — quarterback K'Hari Lane told the Star that he committed to Arizona. Lane is a 2017 recruit from Montezuma, Georgia, and he committed to UA after visiting Arizona's campus for its first spring practice on Saturday.

Lane is expected to sign his national letter of intent sometime in the coming days, making his commitment to Arizona official. As a post-signing day recruit, Lane will join the Wildcats with the rest of its 2017 class during the summer.

Despite a prolific high school career, Lane's only other offer is from Grambling State, an FCS program. Bleacher Report detailed his lack of attention in an in-depth article back in January.

Lane had a record-setting senior season at Macon County High School, amassing 3,740 passing yards, 56 touchdowns and two interceptions. He added 290 yards rushing with eight more touchdowns.

He's considered a three-star recruit by Scout.com and is listed at 6-feet and 222 pounds. Lane will be the 24th scholarship member of Arizona's 2017 class.
