Arizona's first departures for the transfer portal, which officially opens for business in three weeks, are backup left guard Michael Wooten and defensive lineman Chancellor Owens.

Wooten and Owens reportedly plan to enter the transfer portal that is set open on Jan. 2, the same day No. 17 Arizona plays SMU in the Trust & Will Holiday Bowl. The departures were first reported by On3.com and 247Sports.com on Tuesday.

Wooten and Owens will have a year of eligibility remaining.

The 6-5, 323-pound Duquesne, Pennsylvania native and Sierra Canyon High School started his career at Oregon in 2022 and played two seasons for the Ducks before transferring to Arizona for the 2024 and '25 seasons.

As a backup, Wooten played both tackle spots at Arizona and transitioned to left guard. Wooten started the Hawaii and Weber State games at left guard until Chubba Maae became the starter. Wooten played 230 offensive snaps this season.

Georgia Tech transfer Jordan Brown, who transferred last year and suffered multiple injuries this season, is expected to be in position to potentially start at left guard in 2026.

The 6-3, 285-pound Owens transferred to Arizona earlier this year after appearing in 18 games at Northwestern State. Owens logged two tackles in two games in his lone season at Arizona.

No. 17 Arizona faces SMU for the 46th Holiday Bowl at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego on Friday, Jan. 2, at 6 p.m. on Fox.
