Five games, five wins.
The undefeated Bobcats are now the team to beat in Southern Arizona, which is hard to believe considering they weren't ranked in our first power poll of the season. Cienega has shown its dominance game after game this season. Last week, the Bobcats rolled past Tucson High â easily the best large-school team in Southern Arizona and was our No. 7 team last week â by a lopsided score of 66-34. If that doesn't spell powerhouse, we're not sure what does.Â
The Bobcats travel to Salpointe Catholic to take on the No. 5 Lancers this Friday, and we predict the Cienega train will keep on rolling. Expect the Bobcats to stay on top of our poll next week, and for the foreseeable future.

The Falcons rose one spot in our rankings to No. 2 because they continue to win games and look strong while doing it. Last week they took down defending Class 3A state champion Pusch Ridge Christian 31-20. Senior quarterback Rhett Rodriguez continued his prolific season, throwing for 168 yards and three touchdowns. He also added 66 yards and another score with his legs.Â
This week should be somewhat of a test for Catalina Foothills, as it travels to Oro Valley to take on Canyon del Oro. The Falcons should come home with a W.

Well, it had to happen sometime. The Nighthawks (4-1) finally fell last week, losing to Queen Creek, 37-12. Losing is never fun, but Ironwood Ridge's loss came on the road to one of the better Class 5A teams in the state; Queen Creek improved to 5-1. That's why the Nighthawks only fell two spots to No. 3 in this week's power poll.Â
Things don't get any any easier for I-Ridge this week. The Nighthawks host a surging Mountain View team that's ranked No. 4 in our poll. It's certainly a toss-up game, but we expect I-Ridge to come out with a win, primarily because it's the home team. Â

Man, did we underestimate those Mountain Lions at the beginning of the season. Mountain View is 4-1 and has some impressive wins under its belt. Since losing their first game of the season, the Mountain Lions are averaging 48.5 points per game while allowing just 17.5 points. Not bad. Last week, the Mountain Lions took down San Tan Valley Poston Butte 38-27.Â
This week, the fun begins. Mountain View travels to take on No. 3 Ironwood Ridge. Expect this to be the last week the Mountain Lions are ranked as high as No. 4, at least for a while. Â

The Lancers have won their last two games by a combined score of 84-35. The fact that both were road games makes them even more impressive. Salpointe Catholic has a balanced offense that can score through the air or on the ground, so the Lancers match up well with lots of opponents.Â
This week, however, could present all kinds of problems. The Lancers host No. 1 Cienega on Friday night, and the Bobcats blew out Tucson High 66-34 last week. Salpointe's only loss this season came against Tucson High, which leads us to believe the Lancers will suffer their second loss of the season this week. Salpointe likely will drop out of our rankings after Friday night, at least for a week.Â

The Sabercats moved down a class at the beginning of this season to 3A, and they've been thriving against their new opponents. Sabino has put up back-to-back blowouts, winning 63-0 over Tanque Verde two weeks ago and 62-0 over Santa Rita last week. To put the Sabercats' dominance into perspective, they've outscored opponents 189-58 this season. The only reason they're not ranked higher is because of the underwhelming opponents they've played this season.Â
This week won't be any different. Sabino travels to take on Catalina (0-5) Friday night. Expect another lopsided victory for the Sabercats.Â

Welcome to the big show, Desert View.
The Jaguars are one of only two undefeated teams remaining in Southern Arizona, and they've finally broken into our rankings for the first time. The reason for their previous snubs? Well, Desert View's opponents are a combined 10-17 this season.Â
Desert View will likely enjoy one more week of being undefeated, as they travel to take on 1-4 Cholla on Friday night. The Jaguars finish their season with one of the more difficult four-game slates out there: at Mountain View; vs. Flowing Wells; vs. Marana; and at San Tan Valley Poston Butte.Â

There's one word to describe Tucson High's recent performance: Yikes. The Badgers have dropped three of their last four games after starting the season 2-0. Sure, their losses have come to quality opponents â Desert Ridge, Mountain View and Cienega â but a 3-3 record just isn't good enough to make it into our rankings.Â
Tucson High has a bye week this and will look to get back on track with a game against a reeling Sunnyside team on Oct. 7.Â
