Frida Kahlo lovers, this one's for you.
This Friday, the Tucson Botanical Gardens, 2150 N. Alvernon Way, will host its first Frida al Fresco Friday — a fun festival featuring Frida, a farmers market, photos and furry friends.
Say that 10 times fast.
Since October, the exhibit "Frida Kahlo: Art, Garden, Life" has been on loan to Tucson from the New York Botanical Garden. We have it until May 31, and the Tucson Botanical Gardens are taking full advantage of it.
The monthly Frida al Fresco Fridays are just another series of programs at the gardens showcasing the plants and nature that influenced Kahlo's work.
From 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, the gardens will host a farmers market by FoodInRoot, Tucson High's Mariachi Rayos del Sol, Claws and Paws Rescue and several other vendors, said Jennifer Allen, the gardens' marketing director.
There will be arts and crafts for kids and a photo booth where you can pose with Frida-style eyebrows or mustaches.
Or bring your own.
Frida fans are encouraged to dress like the artist for a look-alike contest. There will be a prize.
Admission costs $13 for adults, $7.50 for kids ages 4-17 and is free for children 3 and younger and garden members.
