This fall is going to be magical.

And not because of fall colors or pumpkin spice or chilly temps.

We live in Tucson, guys.

No. We're talking about Disney magic.

Here are three ways you can hang out with your favorite characters without even leaving the state.

Go under the sea

The encore to August's Return of the Mermaids festivities swims into Centennial Hall, 1020 E. University Blvd., from Wednesday, Sept. 13 to Friday, Sept. 17. Ariel is bringing her world to Tucson.

You can buy tickets for the production of Disney's "The Little Mermaid," presented by Broadway in Tucson and UA Presents, at broadwayintucson.com/tickets.

Ticket prices range from $29 to $115. We recommend buying your tickets ASAP if you haven't already. When we checked late last week, most of the available seats were in the mezzanine and some of the shows were almost sold out.

Upcoming performances also play into Disney lore, though they're not exactly mouse house canon.

Tickets for "Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella" go on sale Friday for the performance December 5-10. And in April, Broadway in Tucson will present "Finding Neverland," the story behind J.M. Barrie's inspiration for Peter Pan. You can buy those tickets starting November 17.

Your kids and teens can also get a peak at how the magic happens during a day-long behind-the-scenes workshop by Arts Express 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16. You can register for the $45 workshop here

Bundle up

OK. Not likely. We know. We're sad, too. But in the meantime, you can buy tickets for Disney On Ice's "Follow Your Heart" show October 12-15. Starting at $20 for the time being, tickets go on sale Wednesday for the show at the Tucson Arena, 260 S. Church Ave.

You can buy tickets at disneyonice.com/tickets. The Tucson Convention Center box office is also selling tickets for $17 to $70.

This is your chance to see the Emotions from "Inside Out" and celebs such as Dory, Elsa, Cinderella, Buzz Lightyear and other Disney stars. And Mickey and Minnie. Obviously.

Road trip

If you happen to be in Phoenix September through October, you can find showings of some of your favorite Disney princess films in theaters. As part of Disney's "Dream Big, Princess" campaign, select AMC Theatres will show these animated films:

  • "Beauty and the Beast" Sept. 15-21.
  • "Mulan" Sept. 22-28.
  • "Tangled" Sept. 29 to Oct. 5.
  • "The Princess and the Frog" Oct. 6-12.
  •  "Brave" Oct. 13-19.

Unfortunately for us, Tucson's AMC at the Foothills Mall isn't participating right now. But if you happen to be in the Phoenix area, check this site to see if a nearby theater is showing one of these films: amctheatres.com/dream_big_princess.
