At the Tucson Botanical Gardens' first Frida al Fresco, it's as if Frida Kahlo herself strolled the grounds.ย

The monthly celebration of the Mexican painter the evening of Friday, Jan. 27 attracted a handful of Frida look-alikes, complete with flowers crowns, floral prints and thick brows. About seven look-alikes competed to call Frida Kahlo their twin, said Jennifer Allen, the gardens' marketing director.ย

Once each month though May, the gardens at 2150 N. Alvernon Way will host these Frida al Fresco nights as part of the exhibit "Frida Kahlo: Art, Garden, Life," which has been on loan to Tucson from the New York Botanical Garden since October and will be here through May.ย

The gardens hosted a look-alike contest as part of the festivities, which also included crafts, music and a farmers market.ย 

As winner of the Frida look-alike contest, Zandra Minerva took home passesย to the Tucson Botanical Gardens.ย
