- Carrilloβs Tucson Mortuary: Carrilloβs has been named 2017 Funeral Home of the Year by the Arizona Funeral, Cemetery, and Cremation Association. The mortuary, which celebrated 100 years in business in 2014, is owned by Leo C. Carrillo β the great-grandson of Arturo Carrillo who started the business on Congress near Fifth Street.
- Pools by Design: The company, run by Tucsonβs Ken and Maryanne Larison, has joined the Master Pools Guild. Since itβs origin in 1962, membership in the Guild has been by invitation only and the invitation is extended to builders who meet specific criteria based on the quality of their work.
- Tucson Metro Chamber Copper Cactus Awards: More than four dozen businesses and four business leaders in Southern Arizona have been selected as finalists for the Tucson Metro Chamber Copper Cactus Awards. The awards celebrate the accomplishments and innovation of Southern Arizonaβs small businesses in categories such as work environment, workforce development, community stewardship, innovation, growth and leadership. Finalists for the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona Best Place to Work award are: Contact One Call Center, Fangamer, Genesis OB/GYN, Instrumental Music Center, Nextrio, Pueblo Mechanical and Controls, R&A CPAs, Ronstadt Insurance, Showard Law Firm and Watermark Retirement Communities. The finalists for the Cenpatico Integrated Care Workforce Development honor are AAA Landscape, Encourage Arizona, Evolution MPC, Gersons Building Materials, Splendido at Rancho Vistoso and Village Bakehouse. In the running for the CopperPoint Small Business Leader of the Year is Barbi Reuter of Cushman & Wakefield PICOR; Ali Farhang & Tim Medcoff of Farhang & Medcoff; Sandi Eghtesadi of The Eghtesadi Agency β Farmerβs Insurance; and Kimberly Clifton of Tierra Antigua Realty. Finalists for the Cox Business Growth award are Casa de la Luz Hospice, Gibsonβs Office Solutions, Re-Bath of Tucson, Staff Matters, Summit Hut, The Lodge at Ventana Canyon Golf & Racquet Club, Tucson Turf and Walbro. Nextrio Innovation finalists are Arizona Lithographers, Barr Credit Services, Darling Geomatics, OOROO Vistoso Automotive, Paragon Space Development, Quik Fix Phone Repair, Silverado Rooter & Plumbing, Simpleview and World View. The finalists for the Tucson Electric Power Charitable Non-Profit Business are Arizona Greyhound Rescue, Dancing In The Streets, Earn To Learn, Fox Tucson Theatre Foundation, Golden Goose Thrift Shop, Humane Society of Southern Arizona, International Rescue Committee, Literacy Connects, Marshall Foundation, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern Arizona, SAAVI Services for the Blind, The Primavera Foundation, TRAK β Therapeutic Ranch for Animals & Kids, Tucson Girls Chorus, Youth On Their Own and YWCA Southern Arizona.
