I recently attended two meetings where more than 60 business owners came together to share best practices. One of the questions we discussed was, β€œWhat are your keys to achieving success?” Here are a few of the thoughts we shared:

The first suggestion was to value your time and invest it wisely no matter what. You must realize you cannot do everything yourself. Be willing to delegate responsibility to others and trust they will do a good job. This means you must hire the right people in the first place and surround yourself with competent people.

Stop and think before starting a new project. Spend time up front visualizing the problem and analyzing different solutions before taking any action. Once you take action, stay focused on the job at hand and avoid distractions. Do not try to multi-task projects, as this introduces inefficiencies. Hire outside help when you need it. You do not have all the answers, and you will need help. Be humble enough to know that.

Focus your time doing the things you do well and that you enjoy, hire other people to do the rest. Take pride in your work and in your results. Be open to learning new things and continue to develop. Be available, empathetic and listen more than you talk.

If you can find a good mentor to help you, do that as soon as you can. If you do not have a mentor, you need an accountability partner. Find someone that makes sure you do the things you say you will do. A good accountability partner will make sure you make the necessary sacrifices to achieve your goals. Set benchmarks for success, and measure the results.

There are several good suggestions here, but you cannot do everything at once. Consider taking a few of these tips and implementing them in your business.
