Sonora Environmental Research Institute: SERI has been awarded the National Energy Globe Award for the United States. The recognition is granted by the nonprofit Energy Globe Foundation. The institute is being recognized for investigation of the effectiveness of a loan program for low-income residents to invest in rainwater harvesting systems over time, overcoming the upfront costs of installation of rainwater harvesting systems. SERI is dedicated to providing unbiased research to disadvantaged and marginalized communities to solve environmental challenges and build healthy and safe neighborhoods.
AZ Pure Water: Pima County’s AZ Pure Water Brew Challenge project won the Transformational Innovation Award at the 33rd annual WateReuse Symposium. The WateReuse Association honored the project for its leadership, creativity and persistence in supporting recycled water. Led by the Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department, the AZ Pure Water project helped change the perception regarding recycled water in many Arizona communities by using recycled water to brew beer.
The Museum of Contemporary Art Tucson: MOCA was selected as one of only 20 museums throughout the United States to receive a $25,000 grant from Aroha Philanthropies through its initiative Seeding Vitality Arts in Museums. MOCA Tucson will partner with Aroha Philanthropies to support the development and expansion of successful creative aging programs.
