Greater Tucson Leadership: Its class of 2016 community project is to help the Tucson Nursery School, 2385 S. Plumer Ave., revamp its facilities as the school marks its 70th year: creating a website, making significant improvements to the playground, re-invigorating its community garden, performing several needed repairs to the building and working with teachers and parents on continuing education initiatives.
Humble Pie and The Living Room Wine Café & Lounge: They teamed up with Tucson Values Teachers to honor five educators in Southern Arizona during Teacher Appreciation Week last week. Each teacher received a $100 gift certificate to OfficeMax/OfficeDepot, a plaque, flowers, a Ben’s Bell and $50 in gift cards to The Living Room Wine Café & Lounge and Humble Pie at La Encantada. As always, teachers receive 15 percent off at both restaurants.
Beta Signa Phi: The Tucson chapters of Beta Sigma Phi held their annual Founder’s Day celebration April 30. The local council, through a Torch Ball Fund, has raised more than $250,000 over the years for St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center.
