A Pima County Grand Jury indicted a 24-year-old Tucson man on multiple charges stemming from a May 7 car crash that killed former state Senator and county supervisor, Ann Day.

On Tuesday, Jarrad Barnes was brought up on counts ofΒ manslaughter, endangerment, criminal damage, two counts of driving under the influence, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a Pima County Sheriff's Department news release.

Barnes was seen driving erratically at high rates of speed near North First Avenue and East River Road before the crash.

On May 7, Day was driving a Toyota Prius east on East Ina Road near Westward Look Resort when Barnes, who was driving a Chevrolet Impala, crossed the median and struck Day’s car. Day’s car was then struck by a pickup truck from behind.

Barnes was injured in the crash and taken to Banner-University Medical Center Tucson where investigators took several vials of his blood for testing.
