SASO opens 2018-19 season Saturday

Taiwanese-born pianist Sandra Wright Shen is finally performing her encore with the Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra this weekend. er Arturo Márquez’s Afro-Cuban-inspired “Conga del Fuego Nuevo” and his Danzón No. 2, largely regarded as one of the most popular and most played contemporary Mexican orchestral works.

SASO Musyyyerner programmed the orchestra version of Claude Debussy’s poetry-inspired Petite Suite, originally composed for piano four hands; and Carlos Chávez’s exhilaratingly playful “Sinfonía India.”
