Marty McFly and Doc Brown are heading to Centennial Hall this spring.

And they're bringing a flying DeLorean.

Well, not a real DeLorean; that would never fit on the Centennial Hall stage when Broadway In Tucson brings "Back to the Future: The Musical" here in April.Β

But by using a 3D scan, they were able to create a smaller replica of the DeLorean time machine Marty uses to go back to the 1950s.

The show is one of many events we're looking forward to this spring.

We've compiled a pretty near complete list of performing arts coming our way, from comedians (Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias is returning for a Tucson Arena show in May) to experimental theater like the UK's Blind Summit Theatre's "The Sex Life of Puppets" this weekend.Β

We have mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnson Cano and her pianist husband/Tucson native Christopher Cano performing a world premiere of a song cycle commissioned by the Tucson Desert Song FestivalΒ in April.

Among the highlights of the visual arts season, the late Tucson artist Bailey Doogan, known for putting a mirror to aging with unflinching realism and compassion, is the subject of two exhibits, one at the UA Museum of Art and the other at Etherton Gallery downtown, which has long championed Doogan's work.Β

There's a plethora of concerts from pop music to Latin jazz, a bunch of family events including the Broadway musical "Beauty and the Beast" in June, and a couple of film festivals to keep us entertained.

You're going to have so much fun out there. There surely could be changes to schedules along the way, though, so check with the presenter or venue before you head out.
