Structural details are exposed and stained to a charcoal tone while trim is in white, thus providing good contrast. Edges of the wood are bleached for a driftwood effect. Rain leaders similar to the one in the foreground are used around the home for a further Oriental effect. Thus gutters and water spouts are not needed. The water courses down these nylon ropes which are fastened by large rocks to the ground.
