The Tucson Citizen photographed the home of the J.R. Fleming family in 1965. The house on West Ina Road had doubled in size and had plenty of Spanish-influenced decor.

A porch of flagstone at the entry way is defined on either side by these circular benches of Mexican tile. The pineapple urns accenting the porch denote a sign of welcome to visitors. Pyracantha climbs the house on either side of the porch. Palms and cactus are used in landscaping.

Iron gates, once used in a railroad station in Guadalajara, now serve as a divider between the living room and foyer of the J. R. Flemings' home on West Ina Road. The Flemings call their home Quinta San Francisco and approach to the house, well set back off Ina, is via a winding driveway marked on either side by olive trees.

Patio surrounding the swimming pool of the J. R. Fleming home is carpeted with a winter lawn. The oblong pool is backed by an ornamental wall to the north in which is set a view of the elevation from the south side of the house done in tiles by Kay Malleck.

Spanish accents are noted in the master bedroom with its spindle bed; Spanish chests and chairs and the carved Mexican door which enters into a small private patio. Carpeting is beige and the quilted silk bed coverlet is in a bright red tone. Draperies are in bright gold, green and red hues.

Another Spanish note is sounded in the family room where the cape, hat and sword of a matador are hung on the wall and outlined by framed bullfight scenes from Mexico. Chairs around the game table below are backed and cushioned in green leather.

Bright flowers bloom in pots in this little walled patio, which is entered from the master bedroom. Redwood furniture with bright cushions is used here.

The rear of the home is seen here from the pool area. Chimneys carry through the Spanish feeling. The enclosed family room and master bedroom are at left and center and the guest wing is to the right just discernible through the trees. Small hedges and planted urns mark walkways around the patio and pool.

The relationship of the living room to the foyer is pointed up here. An old English table and grandfather's clock and a Spanish chair are seen in the foyer. Fireplace is concrete with a flagstone hearth. Green and brown tones are used in the living room where the rug is off-white.

The former studio of the house has been turned into a hobby room for the Flemings. Here they work with ceramics and some of the results are displayed on a table between the kilns.

Another patio to the east has this little shaded nook centered on a circular brick base. A swing hangs from the palo verde tree. Flooring outside the brick circle is of aggregate in concrete with redwood stripping.

The Flemings call this their summer dining room. A lattice-type roof provides an interesting play of sunlight and shadow. Flooring again is brick and ornamental tiles decorate the outdoor barbecue. Furniture is wrought iron.

This beamed ceilinged gallery spans one portion of the house from the master bedroom. A statue of St. Dominic stands on the niche at the far end of the gallery. The patio is off to the right. Tubbed plants stand on the concrete walkway.
