Raymond Durazo painted a nonprofit’s offices for free.

What: Ben’s Bells promote kindness and community involvement. Each week a person who makes Tucson better is β€œbelled.”

Last week’s recipient: Raymond Durazo.

Nominated by: Michele Mirto.

Why: For painting the offices of Step Up to Justice, a new nonprofit that provides free legal services to low-income individuals in Pima County. Durazo provided the labor and supplies to paint the 1,750-square-foot offices of the nonprofit without charge. Durazo and others spent two days painting the offices, Mirto wrote in her nomination letter. β€œHe did not request financial compensation nor did he seek any public acknowledgment,” Mirto wrote. β€œRaymond quietly went about his work, sharing his expertise and time, and doing what he could to improve the community.”
