The Locks of Love sculpture on North Fourth Avenue. The sculpture was inspired by Ben’s Bells, which promotes kindness and community involvement.

What: Ben’s Bells promote kindness and community involvement. Each week a person who makes Tucson better is β€œbelled.”

Last week’s recipient: Jennifer Wilcox.

Nominated by: Christy Holliger.

Why: A veterinarian at the Pima Animal Care Center has helped the center treat many medical issues of animals that it could not in the past, Holliger wrote in her nomination letter. She has saved the lives of many animals since joining the center. Wilcox and the center’s medical staff worked around the clock treating and saving animals during a recent outbreak of a serious respiratory illness, Holliger wrote. Before, many of the animals would have been euthanized. β€œWe volunteers are so grateful to have such a caring and skilled veterinarian and want to recognize her kindness,” Holliger wrote.
