Greg Caton, Oro Valley’s new town manager.

The candidate list for the new Oro Valley town manager is down to two.

The Oro Valley Town Council will meet behind closed doors on Wednesday afternoon to discuss who should fill the vacancy left by Greg Caton, who took a new job in Colorado last year.

The two in the running are Joshua Wright, who has been the town manager of Wickenberg, Ariz., for the last five years, and Graham Mitchell, the city manager of Escondido, Calif.

The men were named finalists after a nationwide search, said Oro Valley spokeswoman Misti Nowak.

Wright has previous experience in Southern Arizona, working in a number of positions with the town of Marana from March 2007 to November 2011.

He has a master’s degree in public administration and a bachelor’s degree in psychology, both from the University of Arizona.

Mitchell has been a city manager for a number of communities in California, including Lemon Grove and Farmersville, over the last 16 years.

He has a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Southern California and bachelor’s degree in international relations from Brigham Young University.

A final decision from the Oro Valley Town Council is expected in the next few weeks.
