A 19-year-old man was killed Saturday morning when Tucson police say he struck a tree after losing control to avoid another vehicle.
About 10:30 a.m., Antonio Salvatore Cimino was traveling east on East Golf Links Road near South Kolb Road in a blue 1990 Chrysler Lebaron when he struck the tree, Tucson police said in a news release.
Investigators say Cimino was in the middle lane when he tried to change lanes to avoid another vehicle, lost control, struck the raised center median and smashed into the tree, the news release said.
Excessive speed and a failure to control the vehicle were identified as the primary contributing factors in the wreck, the release said.
Cimino was not wearing his seatbelt, the release said.
He was pronounced dead at the crash scene.
The investigation continues.
