A Cooper’s hawk lands on a cross atop Santa Cruz Catholic Church on Tucson’s south side. Last week Arizona wildlife experts noted an uptick in calls from people concerned about young hawks on the ground, assuming they were injured or abandoned. Experts said most desert critters that look miserable in Tucson’s summer heat don’t necessarily need to be rescued.
