Erin Dokter and Kristine Bentz, with bell and nominator Doug Crockett.

What: Benโ€™s Bells promote kindness and community involvement. Each week a person who makes Tucson better is โ€œbelled.โ€

Last weekโ€™s recipients: Erin Dokter and Kristine Bentz.

Nominated by: Doug Crockett.

Why: Dokter and Bentz are co-coordinators of the Tucson Threshold Choir. The choir, which is part of an international network of a capella choirs, is invited to sing at the bedsides of seriously and terminally ill patients to provide them comfort in their last days. โ€œErin and Kristine exemplify a unique ability to make kindness audible,โ€ Crockett wrote in his nomination letter. Both have full-time jobs, but devote significant volunteer time to the choir. โ€œTheir deep friendship allows them to share a very difficult job and also model kindness to over 20 members and the many hospice families that we serve,โ€ Crockett wrote.
