A 73-year-old woman has died days after a domestic violence-related assault late last month on Tucson's north side, police said.

Susan Ainsworth Gustafson died May 4, four days after a disturbance call at a property on East Roger Road at North Stone Avenue, Tucson police said Tuesday in a news release.

Gustafson was taken to the hospital April 29, following an assault that morning that occurred inside an RV parked at the property, the release said.

John Edward Sullivan, 61, was arrested and booked into the Pima County jail on suspicion of two counts aggravated assault domestic violence, police said. The charges were later elevated to second-degree murder.

The investigation continues.
