A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a wrong-way, DUI-related crash Sunday night on Tucson's east side that killed a motorcyclist, police say.

The crash happened when Dane Larsen Declemente, 39, was struck head-on by a 2005 Toyota Corolla as he rode his motorcycle south on South Prudence Road just north of East 22nd Street, Tucson police said in a news release.

Declemente died at the crash scene, police said.

The driver of the Toyota, Gabriel John Townsend, was speeding and traveling north in the southbound lane of Prudence, the release said. Impairment is suspected, police said.

Townsend was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and booked into the Pima County jail on $1 million bond.

There have been 16 fatal motorcycle crashes in Tucson so far this year. There were nine during the same period last year, police say.
