A 24-year-old woman was killed early Sunday when she was thrown from an SUV in a crash, Tucson police said.

The crash happened about 2 a.m. in the 100 block of West Roger Road, near North Stone Avenue, police said in a news release.

Inez Marie Romero, a passenger, was thrown from a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe that was speeding down Roger, struck a curb, hit a block wall across the road and landed on top of a vehicle parked in a yard, the release said.

Romero died at the crash scene.

The unidentified driver, a 26-year-old man, suffered minor injuries.

Speeding and impairment are factors in the crash, which still is being investigated, the release said.
