A man suspected in the killing this month of two Tucson men was shot dead in a gunfight with US Marshals in Yuma, authorities say.
The deadly gunfight happened Wednesday when marshals were trying to arrest David Lee McKinney, 48, in connection with the Jan. 19 killing of two men on Tucson's north side, Tucson police said in a news release.
The Tucson shooting happened about 10 p.m. Sunday in a home in the 200 block of West Laguna Street, near North Stone Avenue. In it, David Debois Johnson, 57, and Clinton Eric Dale, 55, were shot and killed during a confrontation while several other people were at the residence, police said.
Additional witnesses fled prior to police arriving, the release said.
On Tuesday, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for McKinney on suspicion of two counts of first-degree murder. On Wednesday, agents from the US Marshals Service found McKinney at a home in Yuma, the release said.
The gunfight started when Marshals tried to serve the arrest warrant. No Marshals were wounded, the release said.
