Authorities have yet to publicly identify a man who was shot and killed Saturday in a shootout with Marana police.
The man was fatally shot after police say he man ran off about 5:30 p.m. as he was being taken into custody near West Ina Road and North Oldfather Drive for suspicion of driving impaired, Marana police said this weekend.
During the chase, an officer saw what appeared to be a handgun. When police found the man, shots were exchanged and the man was struck, police said.
Life saving measures were started, but the man died at the scene, police said.
The multi-agency Pima Regional Critical Incident Team is handling the investigation, which is standard practice for police-involved shootings.
The Tucson Police Department is the lead agency investigating.
