Rynn Prairie-Rocca

A man wanted in connection with the killing of a man and the kidnapping of a woman Friday in Cochise County has been arrested, authorities say.

The Cochise County Sheriff’s Department had been looking for Rynn Prairie-Rocca, 37, since a 75-year-old woman reported that she had escaped from a gunman who kidnapped her from her home in Pearce, the department said in a Facebook post.

The case started about 8 p.m. Friday when the woman reported that she escaped from her kidnapper, who had come in the workshop of her home then restrained and blindfolded her. The woman said she escaped when the intruder went to a Dollar General store with her restrained in the back seat.

Deputies later found the body of her boyfriend, 67, at the house where the kidnapping occurred.

About 11:30 Saturday morning, deputies and other law enforcement agencies responded to a call about a man barricaded in a home south of Pearce, near Catclaw Road and Arizona 181. Pearce is about 85 miles southeast of Tucson.

Prairie-Rocca was apprehended hours later and booked into the Cochise County jail.
