A Tucson man accused of shooting two deputies during a domestic violence call last month will remain in jail, a judge said Wednesday.
Meanwhile both of the deputies wounded in the incident have been released from the hospital.
The two deputies were shot while answering a domestic violence call about 7:15 p.m. Dec. 21, at a house in the 9000 block of North Kanawha Street, near North Shannon and West Overton roads.
Deputies were called to the home when an βerraticβ Jordyn Guadalupe Sanchez, 29, showed up wanting to take his three non-custodial children from the residence, according to a complaint filed in Pima County Justice Court.
Gunfire erupted soon after the deputies made contact with Sanchez at the house, the department has said. A scuffle led to both deputies, and Sanchez being shot. According to Pima County Superior Court Records, Sanchez faces several felony charges. Among them: attempted murder, aggravated assault on peace officer, and endangerment.
Sanchez also has been linked to a separate shooting at a Tucson marijuana dispensary, court records show.
Sanchez this week was ordered held without bond.
Meanwhile, the second officer injured during the shoot-out was recently released from the hospital with much fanfare.
With a coy smile, a black cast covering his entire arm, and cane in his hand to help him walk, the officer was wheeled through the hospital lobby, which was lined by a gaggle of friends, family members and co-workers, each one cheering louder than the next, a video from the Pima County Sheriffβs Department shows.
The second wounded deputy was released from the hospital last month.
