Three armed men forced their way into a home and robbed an elderly couple at gunpoint Wednesday afternoon southwest of the city.

At about 1 p.m., deputies went to a house in the 4200 block of West Valencia Road in response to a home invasion, said Deputy Ryan Inglett, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokesman.

Detectives learned that the men knocked on the door and forced their way into the house when the door was opened, Inglett said.

Surveillance footage was viewed by investigators. The couple was forced to the floor at gunpoint, and then the robbers stole items and left in an unknown direction, said Inglett.

The assailants were described as Hispanic men in their 20s to 30s who were wearing dark clothing.

Inglett said the men are considered armed and dangerous.
