More than 130 students from nine Southern Arizona schools will face off in a regional construction competition.

This year's event, which is hosted by Skills USA, a partnership of students, teachers and the construction industry, will be held on Feb. 3 at Sahuarita High School's parking lot, 350 W. Sahuarita Road #9.

Categories for competition include carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry and team-building. Participating schools are: Sahuarita, Benson, Cholla, Catalina, Canyon del Oro, Santa Rita, San Manuel and Vail high schools, and the Joint Technical Education District.

The event is open to the public. Projects built at the event could be available for purchase. For more information, visit www.azskillsusa.org.
