Why: For opening a day-care center for the children of first responders, public safety and military personnel. She founded the Erik Hite Foundation, which was created after the death of her husband, a Tucson police officer who was killed in the line of duty. Nohemy has volunteered all of her time hiring and managing staff, fundraising, and public speaking for the center, Place wrote in her nomination letter. βShe is compassionate and passionate about her work,β Place wrote.
