Casie Boling-Mendola, center with bell, poses for a picture with her family and Amanda Conniff, second from left. Boling-Mendola invited Conniff to live with her in a time of need.

What: Benโ€™s Bells promote kindness and community involvement. Each week a person who makes Tucson better is โ€œbelled.โ€

Last weekโ€™s recipient: Casie Boling-Mendola

Nominated by: Amanda Conniff

Why: For helping out Conniff in her time of need. โ€œI was 1,700 miles from home with no family, no friends, no money, no home and no job,โ€ Conniff wrote. โ€œWithout hesitation, Casie called me and said, โ€˜Come home and live with us.โ€™โ€ With Boling-Mendolaโ€™s help, Conniff said she has slowly rebuilt her life after a traumatic experience. โ€œShe is that person who has reminded me that there is still hope and that there are still good people who really do care.โ€
