UPDATE: Man dies after Jun. 14 head-on collision on Tucson's Miracle Mile
A man was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries after a head-on collision on Tucson's north side Thursday afternoon.
Tucson fire crews and police officers responded to the serious vehicle accident on Miracle Mile between Flowing Wells Road and Interstate 10 around 1 p.m.
Police say the man struck a median attempting to make a left turn from Miracle Mile onto Romero Road and ended up in the westbound lanes of upcoming traffic.
A city of Tucson vehicle struck him head on. Police did not report injuries to the driver of the city-owned vehicle.
It is unknown if any impairments were factors in the wreck.
The westbound lanes of Miracle Mile were closed for several hours due to an investigation and clean up, authorities said.
