A shop that sells homemade ice cream with flavors such as blueberry cobbler, horchata and Graham Central Station is opening in Tucson.

In business since 1945, Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream will open Thursday, Oct. 24, at 7315 N. Oracle Road, near Ina Road, and the first 100 guests in line (ages 18 and older) will receive free ice cream for a year.

Tucson franchisees Dave and Michelle Knittel fell in love with the ice cream eight years ago during a visit to a shop in San Diego.

β€œHandel’s quickly became a family favorite for us after our first visit,” Dave Knittel said. β€œWe’re excited to bring this experience to our hometown and become a go-to spot.”

Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream carries flavors such as black raspberry chunk, monkey business and strawberry cheesecake chunk.

The new Tucson store will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
