A bustling commercial development on Tucson’s south side is getting yet another major tenant.
Dallas-based MYCON General Contractors Inc. recently broke ground on Tucson Rehabilitation Hospital, a new inpatient rehabilitation hospital going up at The Bridges, near Park Avenue and Interstate 10.
It marks MYCON’s first ground-up construction project in Arizona and the company’s first project with Cross Hospitals, a partnership between Kennor Cross Hospital Investors and Nobis Hospital Investments that develop and manage new inpatient rehabilitation hospitals.
“This is an exciting opportunity for MYCON as we continue our growth in the west,” said Ryan Stoll, partner and vice president of MYCON. “We are looking forward to working with Cross Hospitals to bring this state-of-the-art rehabilitation hospital to life for the Tucson community.”
Tucson Rehabilitation Hospital will be located at 870 E. Tucson Marketplace Blvd. on the west side of Park Avenue, near the Pima JTED Innovation Learning Center and the recently announced Aldi discount grocery store.
The three-story, 55,098-square-foot hospital will have 48 patient rooms and two rehab therapy gyms.
The onsite team will include a physical rehabilitation physician, physical, occupational and speech therapists, and nurses who provide care for patients with a disabling injury or disease.
“Cross Hospitals is excited to provide inpatient rehab services to the community with the development of the Tucson Rehabilitation Hospital,” said Chester Crouch, Founder and CEO of Nobis Rehabilitation Partners.
Tucson-based Bourn Cos., developer of The Bridges, has been working on this project since 2022, said Dillon Walker, a spokesman for Bourn.
“This facility is a state-of-the-art rehabilitation hospital caring for people with debilitating illnesses and injuries such as brain injury, stroke and other complex medical, neurological and orthopedic diseases and injuries,” he said.
No employment number have yet been announced, but construction of new hospital is expected to be completed in summer 2025.
The Bridges has been enjoying much success with announcements such as a new Aldi, Bass Pro Shops and residential projects.
Aside from patronage from a long-underserved south-side community, developers say shops at The Bridges have benefited from Mexican shoppers because of its quick access off of the interstate as they head back south.
